Humsafar (English: Companion) might be a Pakistani drama tv series directed by Sarmad ruler Khoosat, supported a singular of identical name written by Farhat Ishtiaq. Maimoona's brother Baseerat Hussain (Behroze Sabzwari) is affluent and married to Farida (Atiqa Odho); they need a son named Ashar (Fawad Khan). After the doctors inform Maimoona that she is within the last stage of cancer & that she is going to die shortly, Maimoona seeks her brother's help in arranging Khirad's marriage. Feeling guilty for not taking higher care of Maimoona, Baseerat compensates by promising that Ashar can marry Khirad, unbeknownst to both Ashar & Farida. This irks Farida, who has always wanted Ashar to marry his cousin Sara (Naveen Waqar), the daughter of Farida's sister Zarina Ajmal (Hina Khawaja Bayat). Khirad is that the last to search out out concerning the engagement & begs her mother not bear with it, as she does not know Ashar nor does she love him. In spite of their reluctance, Ashar and Khirad ar married moments before Maimoona passes away. Sara, WHO is crazy with Ashar, is heartbroken upon learning this and attempts suicide. Both Ashar and Khirad ar unapproachable towards one another and feel uncomfortable within the forced wedding. Ashar still guarantees Khirad that he can plan to maintain a stable & civil relationship. Khirad feels that by marrying a person WHO is financially superior, she has lost her dignity. With the encouragement of Sara, Ashar avoids going home by staying out late with friends. After overhearing Khirad vent her fustrastions about the marriage arrangement to Baseerat, overhearing this Ashar becomes more considerate towards Khirad's feelings & needs. Gradually, the couple fall deeply crazy with one another. Ashar admires Khirad's innocence, simplicity and purity of heart; his admiration is reciprocated by Khirad, who is in awe of his caring personality. While he develops a robust and loving relationship along with his married woman, Ashar remains friends with Sara. Noticing Ashar's bond with Khirad is getting stronger, Sara attempts to interfere in their relationship. When Sara humiliates Khirad at a celebration, Ashar reprimands her for her callousness. Farida pretends to need a mother-daughter bond with Khirad and displays false fondness for her once being vulnerable by Baseerat. Soon, Baseerat falls ill and on his death-bed, he reminds his son that it is important for him to always protect and love Khirad.
· Critical reception
Some people regarded it as revival of drama trade. According to critics, the show was socially regressive and demonstrated the misogynistic mentality prevalent in society.[Sabahat Zakariya wrote, "If Haseena Moin was the benchmark of mass quality previously, then Humsafar is an indicator of our endemic regressiveness." The series has gained a very large audience internationally.
Star reported that the Humsafar page on Facebook had thousands of European and North yank fans and viewers, with many saying they had never watched any Pakistani drama before but are completely hooked on Humsafar.

Hum TV gave the show its Hum unearned extraordinary Serial Award.
· Dubbed
Humsafar was dubbed into Arabic and broadcast by MBC in the Middle East, under the name Rafeeq-Al-Rouh (رفيق الروح). The show instantly gained huge quality and when airing its 1st few episodes, became the foremost watched drama on the channel. Because of its quality the show was telecast once more once few months. Before this Pakistani dramas weren't as well-liked within the Middle East thanks to language barriers and conjointly thanks to the recognition of Latin dramas.
